Iman is a multi-reed player, arranger and composer. Many of the Captain Hook songs are his writings.
He studied with Ferdinand Povel and Dick Oatts a.o. at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and with Simon Rigter and Ben van den Dungen for his mastersdegree at Codarts (Conservatory of Rotterdam). He had television appearances with the New Generation Big Band, one of the rising, fresh big bands in Europe.
In 2008 he toured in the UK with the European Union Quartet. For 2009 an extensive tour will bring the European Union Quartet to Belgium, Holland, UK and Ireland. Beside that, Iman plays with the group Thelonious4.
In recent years he was a founding member of the P-funkband Gellybooty, which played across Europe. He runs his own music production company ‘Eyeman music’ and teaches saxophone at the Utrechts Centrum voor de Kunsten.
