A member of the intergalactic military and police force known as Nova Corps, originally an exploration group from the planet Xandar, the source of Nova Corps' power is called the Nova Force, an unlimited energy generated by a living computer called the Xandarian Worldmind. When the last surviving member of the Nova Corps, Rhomann Dey, was dying, he selected the young high school student from New York called Richard Rider to succeed him.
